-
New!!!!! Calendar Shift / Dues

Band Camp is 3 weeks long. Leadership week is a new addition to camp.
-
Dues… Dues for all marching band students are $100 to cover the cost of staff assistance as well as to purchase shoes for the uniforms.
-
Instrument issue will take place the week of Full Band Camp on Monday August 6th, 2018.
Band Camp Checklist:
-
A FULL WATER BOTTLE!
-
It is important it will be to stay hydrated for the sessions outside! Water fountains and some water/Gatorade will be available but students are required to have a full water bottle at every morning formation. They will be penalized for failure to have one. Please be prepared with a water bottle of at least 1 liter or more!!
-
-
All necessary equipment for instruments
-
Sunscreen/sunglasses/hats/sweatbands/towels (these items are optional but highly encouraged)
-
A change of clothes
-
Come dressed in workout attire
-
Workout attire must:
-
Be modest and not revealing
-
Be comfortable
-
Not portray any suggestive/explicit material of any kind
-
Not hinder the student from marching/exercising
-
Comply with NPS Student Handbook
-
Shoes must be athletic/tennis shoes
-
Snack
-
This year LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE CAMPERS!!! You are encouraged to bring snacks. Please eat breakfast before camp!
-
Band members must have their own personal “Lyre” for their music. They will not be allowed to rehearse without it. The Lyre is necessary for the camp. “Russel’s Music World” is located across the street from MHS and is a great place to buy the lyre and stand for the instrument. They keep a running stock of these items. “Music and Arts” is also a great place to find these items and they are located all over Hampton Roads so please make plans to purchase a lyre before band camp.

-
Family Night/Graduation
-
To mark the end of Marching Camp there will be a Family cookout and performance event. This event will take place from 6:00pm – 7:30pm on Thursday, Aug 23, 2018. This is a Potluck BBQ dinner. Please bring a dish and drink to share. More info to come!
Parent Assistance
There are many opportunities for parents to assist the band. If you are interested helping please contact Ms. Daye or the Maury Band Parents Association for volunteer opportunities. .

Other MHS Students
-You might not think that you have any reason to come to camp. Maybe you are only in Jazz band. Maybe you have Votech and can’t take band during the school day. Maybe you haven’t learned to play an instrument yet. Regardless, there are many things that you can do in camp! First, jazz band rhythm section musicians (piano, guitar, bass) can be a part of the pep band so please come! Any theory students who know anything about audio equipment, please come! Any beginning band students that want to see all the instruments in action and pick one to learn, please come! Votech students who can’t take band during the day, please come!
